lyrics

(A G# C)

So it turns out that we aren’t alone, in fact we’re quite the opposite
We’re one of many groups trying to start again amidst this shit
There are bros and politicians, academics and some hipsters
And some kleptocratic lobbyists who steal from everybody else
Our government is tenuous; we’ve tried to do our best
And just because we share our work they scoff and call us communists
We wouldn’t care just what say, but this is just like Fallout 3
Before long we’ll be fighting, so we’re gonna need diplomacy

So we organize a meeting, set a time and choose our delegates
And convene inside the ruins of the old convention center
And we fight and disagree; we act like model U.N. idiots
The only thing we have in common’s we all hate the lobbyists
‘Cos they hide all day on K street with their horrible disfigurements
And steal from us at night, and shoot their guns at all the scouts we send
We ally to declare war on those mutants filled with greed, sometimes
The road to peace is wet with blood; survival means our unity

We form an army out of all the men and women who are able
And we fortify our building with our beds and chairs and tables
And we plunder the Smithsonians for armor and our arsenal
We bear tomahawks and muskets, bows and arrows, cowboy pistols
The next night we march to K Street beating drums and waving standards
And our molotovs light up the sky like flocks of flaming birds
But the lobbyists were waiting for us; they charge out into the street
And we fight until the sun reflects from blood on the concrete

The fight was long and lives were lost, survival cherished by those blessed
But when the lobbyists retreated, they left K Street up for settlement
We reconvened to talk about the future that’s in store
But we quickly started arguing about the spoils of war
And it soon devolved from verbal threats to slaps and stones and sticks
Now the bros are scalping hipsters while the church fights academics
And we fall apart, we watch our backs; from now it’s one for one
As this chaos rains down on us, hope fades with the setting sun

It’s been a week since war broke out, we’ve been afraid to go outside
The only ones among us who ain’t hungry ain’t because they died
And in this anarchy we sleep, afraid to go out in the streets
And we’re so damn terrified we shiver socks off of our feet
And now I wonder what went wrong, why are we all so suicidal?
Power corrupts, that much is obvious, it can’t be just that simple
But philosophizing politics is no use to us now
We’ve brought anarchy to DC, even though we don’t know how
